Westmeadians join USCAA 2013


The cheering of the students echoed in the Batangas Provincial Coliseum last August 13, 2013 during the opening of the Universities, Schools, Colleges Athletic Association (USCAA) Competition. Players from different schools gathered in the coliseum for the opening ceremony of the said event. The ceremony started with the presentation of modern dances of each school followed by the entrance of the players, lighting of torch and the oath of sportsmanship.

Westmead participated in the following events: volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis and chess. Among the five schools that competed in the championship, Westmead successfully got the first place in Chess Board 1 in the person of Bryan Blair Fallarme, a 2nd year BS Accountancy student, as he continuously marked a trail of triumph against his rivals. In line with the said events, his teammates’ Mylene Beo, Jasmin Beo, Robert Bombales and Desiree Balbaira won second place while Roma Beo and Rolly Dalisay bagged the third place. Moreover, in the badminton events, players Ma. Theresa Igaya of Single A – Girls and Claudine Fortaliza of Single B- Girls both won second place while their teammate, Paulo Agtaym of Single B – Boys got the third place.

These players and other Westmead athletes have trained and practiced regularly before their respective sport events to hone their skills and to achieve the proper conditioning before the games began. Congratulations winners!
